PEYC Yacht Cruising.

PEYC have a yacht cruising section that meets regularly on a Thursday afternoon or evening throughout the summer sailing season. The aim of the cruising section is to provide non-competitive opportunities for people to sail socially on privately owned yachts berthed in Port Edgar Marina. These yachts range in size and design; from 40ft blue water cruisers to Hunter 707’s. There is no set course so there is freedom to explore depending on wind, tide, and crew experience. The cruising section welcomes experienced and inexperienced sailors. It is not a formal training programme however participants have gone on to take formal RYA qualifications;  purchase their own cruising boats; form ownership syndicates and sail to far flung destinations.  There is a huge range of knowledge and experience in the group and “every day is a school day” when you are on a boat

All yacht owners at Port Edgar are invited to become involved. The Thursday sessions give the opportunity to sail; draw on the pool of available crew and meet new people. Skippers support each other sharing both maintenance and seamanship knowledge.  PEYC are keen to support new skippers getting their boats out; developing confidence and enjoying the social aspects of the sport.
